Terms of Service

These are the ground rules for using Content Guard Pro. We’ve tried to make this readable while covering the legal bases we need to cover.

By using Content Guard Pro—whether you’re browsing our website, installing the plugin, or purchasing a license—you’re agreeing to these terms.

1. What Content Guard Pro Does (and Doesn’t Do)

Content Guard Pro is a WordPress security plugin that scans your database for potentially malicious content, spam links, and SEO injections. It identifies suspicious patterns and helps you manage what it finds.

What It Does:

  • Scans your WordPress database for suspicious patterns
  • Categorizes findings by severity and confidence
  • Provides tools to quarantine and manage flagged content
  • Checks URLs against reputation databases (paid tiers)

What It Doesn’t Do:

  • Guarantee security. No security tool can. Threats evolve constantly, and no scanner catches everything.
  • Guarantee accuracy. Pattern matching has limitations. You’ll see false positives (legitimate content flagged) and may experience false negatives (threats missed).
  • Replace comprehensive security. We complement file-based scanners and other security measures—we don’t replace them.
  • Make decisions for you. We surface findings; you decide what to do with them.

This matters because it shapes what you can expect from the service and what responsibilities remain yours.

2. Your License

When you use Content Guard Pro (including the Free tier), we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Install the plugin on the number of sites your plan allows
  • Access features available to your tier
  • Receive updates and pattern packs for your tier

What You Can’t Do:

  • Use the service beyond your license scope (more sites than allowed)
  • Redistribute, resell, or transfer the plugin or license keys
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the plugin
  • Remove proprietary notices
  • Circumvent licensing or security measures
  • Share license keys with others
  • Build competing products using our work

Free Tier Note

The Free tier is provided at no cost with limited features. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue it at any time. Free users receive community support only (WordPress.org forums).

3. Payments and Subscriptions Billing

  • Paid licenses are billed annually, in advance
  • Prices are in USD unless specified otherwise
  • We may change pricing with 30 days’ notice before your renewal

Refunds

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for new purchases. If the plugin isn’t what you expected, request a refund within 14 days of your initial purchase.

Refunds aren’t available for:

  • Renewal payments (cancel before renewal to avoid charges)
  • Purchases older than 14 days
  • Accounts terminated for violating these terms

Renewals and Cancellation

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel before the renewal date
  • Cancel anytime through your account dashboard
  • No partial refunds for unused subscription periods

4. Your Responsibilities

You’re Responsible For:

  • Backups. Always maintain current backups before using any security tool. We’re not responsible for data loss.
  • Security beyond the plugin. Keep WordPress, themes, and other plugins updated. Use strong passwords. Content Guard Pro is one layer of security, not the whole stack.
  • Evaluating findings. Our scans surface potential issues. You decide whether they’re actual threats and what action to take.
  • Your content. Whatever’s on your site is your responsibility.
  • Compliance. Following applicable laws and regulations.

Professional Judgment

We provide information to help you make security decisions. The actual decisions—whether to quarantine, ignore, or investigate findings—are yours. You know your site better than any automated tool can.

5. Intellectual Property

The plugin, website, documentation, and detection patterns are our intellectual property. Your license lets you use the service; it doesn’t transfer ownership.

Your content remains yours. We don’t claim ownership of anything in your WordPress database.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the product without compensation.

6. Disclaimers

Here’s where we have to be direct about limitations. This section is important.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

We don’t warrant that:

  • The service will meet your specific requirements
  • Detection will be accurate, complete, or catch every threat
  • The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Your site will be secure as a result of using the plugin

Security tools are inherently limited. New threats emerge daily. Pattern-based detection can’t catch everything. No vendor can honestly promise otherwise.

We’ve built the best database-focused scanner we can. We update patterns regularly. We test thoroughly. But we can’t guarantee results, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

7. Limitation of Liability

This section caps our financial exposure. It’s standard in software agreements and reflects the reality that we can’t control how the service is used or what happens on your site.

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
  • Security breaches, malware, or hacking incidents
  • False positives or false negatives in detection
  • Decisions you make based on findings
  • Service interruptions
  • Third-party services or integrations

OUR MAXIMUM LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO:

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the fees paid by you to us for the Service in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you use the Free tier, our total aggregate liability will not exceed $10 USD.

These limitations apply regardless of legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise), even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Why this matters: Without these limitations, we couldn’t offer the service at current prices—or possibly at all. This is standard in the industry, and it’s how we can provide accessible pricing while managing business risk.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising from:

  • Your use of the service
  • Violations of these terms
  • Your content
  • Actions taken based on findings
  • Failure to maintain backups

9. Third-Party Services

Reputation Services

We integrate with Google Safe Browsing and PhishTank for URL reputation checking. These are third-party services we don’t control. We can’t guarantee their availability, accuracy, or continued operation.

Payment Processing

Payments are handled by third-party processors with their own terms.

10. Changes to the Service

We may:

  • Add, modify, or remove features
  • Update detection patterns
  • Change pricing (with notice before your renewal)
  • Discontinue the service (with notice for paid features)

If we discontinue paid features, we’ll provide 30 days’ notice where possible and pro-rata refunds for unused subscription periods.

Free tier services may change or end without notice.

11. Termination

You Can End It By:

  • Canceling your subscription
  • Uninstalling the plugin
  • Requesting account deletion

We Can End It If:

  • You breach these terms
  • You fail to pay applicable fees
  • Law requires it
  • We discontinue the service
  • Your use creates security risks to our infrastructure

After Termination:

  • Your license ends immediately
  • Uninstall the plugin from all sites
  • We may delete account data after a reasonable period
  • Sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification survive

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by the courts having jurisdiction over our registered office in Poland, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

Before Legal Action:

Contact us at [email protected] to attempt informal resolution for at least 30 days.

13. General Terms

  • Entire Agreement: These terms plus our Privacy Policy are the complete agreement
  • Severability: If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect
  • No Waiver: Not enforcing a right doesn’t waive it
  • Assignment: You can’t transfer these terms; we can
  • Force Majeure: We’re not liable for failures beyond our reasonable control
  • Notices: We’ll email you at your account address; send legal notices to [email protected]

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date and, for significant changes, emailed to paid users.

Continued use means acceptance. If you disagree with changes, stop using the service.
